With summer coming soon it's time to look for a small wine cooler, i.e. 8-10 bottle. I've found a few that will fit nicely in the floor of my pantry. Some even powered AC/DC.. Hoping to get some good input for a good unit.

thanks

First, it's likely the floor of your pantry would not permit enough air circulation. DW and I received a thermometric unit (no compressor or fan) as a gift and it lasted a couple of years. We kept it on the floor, under a desk area in the kitchen in our not air conditioned sticks & bricks. There was always a noticeable amount of heat exiting around the top of the unit.

Second, if you boondock, a wine cooler would require power almost like running a second refrigerator. That may or may not be an issue for you.

We belong to a wine club, so we may have up to 15 bottles of red wine on hand. We don't have any really good wine that we store for any length of time. We didn't think a dedicated wine cooler was worth the effort, so when the weather warms and our home pantry gets too warm, we keep the wine in the fridge. And when on the road, under the bed we have a 15 bottle 'shipping box' container the wine clubs ships the wine in; it's sturdy and fairly well insulated. ;)

My sister-in-law has a Koolatron 4-Bottle Wine Chiller in their TT. I believe she purchased it at Bed Bath & Beyond.

thought about a good chest cooler, but camping in the lower/higher deserts in calif, Nevada and Arizona,,i was looking to keep some of the gem Reds, preserved in a better temp.. Both wife and i prefer Red wine and we typically choose $45-50 bottles. We also have some favorites in the $15 range,, but either way,, a little and not much heat will spoil a red really quick..This is one of the reasons i'd like to find an AC/DC unit.. Some of these units run very low wattage to maintain 45 degrees.. And some of the AC units run nice on an
dc/ac converter. Camping world has an AC/DC unit at a perineum. Just trying to pick up some tips on what people are using and happy wiht.

I have a 120 quart Coleman marine cooler that I keep my reds in. It holds 3 cases. I keep a few 1 liter water bottles frozen and rotate them out as needed. Last summer in the South Carolina heat it kept the temp between 55 and 60 degrees. Has worked great for me. My wines are in the $40-$80 range and they have been fine.
