Hey this site was a find! Near retirement Prof and wife suddenly own a 2010 226 feather something.

It was the wife's idea, but I love it anyway. We have never camped in our lives until now.

Can you winterize the tin tent so you could use it for a skiing/pond hockey base camp?

Thanks in advance from Canada's left coast.

SecretCoveDave,

Welcome to the Jayco forums!

In answer to your question, yes..., to a degree. My recommendation would be to go through a complete winterizing process as outlined in the manual, which means that you can't use any of the water related items in the TT during the winter months.

Using an RV during the winter months can be very tricky in attempting to using the any part of the water system because of potential damage do to freezing.

If you have shore power available to power the 30amp TT service you will have lights and LP heat, but you will most likely have to deal with some degree of condensation during the cold weather...., no way around it.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum.

For winter use you need to remember to have full propane tanks as the furnace will run a lot. If possible electric heaters are a lot of help. You don't want to use the holding tanks because you may freeze the small outlet pipes. Refrigerator, furnace, stove are all good to use.

How about this idea? Use those silver insulated window shades around the bottom for a wind break. Then I found some 12 v DC 300 watt or 500 watt heaters (with fan) on a truckers online supply house. They are in the bottom enclosed area running off the solar panel on the roof. If I can keep it 36 to 40 f/2 to 4 c ......?

cheers, learning by guessing, Dave. :lightbulb:
