Winterizing with Flow-Pur filtef

Has anyone come up with a simple way to keep this filter from using up half a gallon of antifreeze? I was thinking of sticking a plastic pop bottle in there.

My rig as delivered from Jayco came with filter inlet and outlet shutoff valves. So I just installed a third valve connecting the inlet and outlet pipes to provide a bypass to the entire filter. So when winterizing I shut inlet and outlet valves, open the bypass valve. Then I just remove my filter bowl, trash the old filter, and empty it of any water. Then I reinstall the filter bowl loosely (to keep any dirt out) and then pump in my antifreeze. Works great!

The dealership parts department where I bought mine had a steel plate with a rubber gasket (same size) that allows you to bypass the filter housing all together when winterizing. I trashed the packaging last year so I don't have a part number...but you definitely have options.

I like the pop bottle idea!

I remove the filter housing and dump the excess anti freeze into the toilet or drain traps.
