x213 vs jay feather 23bhm

What does everybody like?

We like our X213. Only peeve I have is the high tongue weight. The king size bed is a bonus, and having the slideout at the rear with the type of camping we do. We go to a lot of races where the site is only 20 ft wide, and those with conventional slideouts can't fully retract their awnings.

The x213 is a cool design. We recently camped next to an Outback that had a similar floorplan, but the from bunk was part of a mini garage, a small toy hauler. It was large enough for a pair of motorcycles, an ATV, or a mix of toys. It was pretty slick.

That said, for our needs (no kids) our Feather 23RBM is serving us very well.

We really love our X213, I agree that the tongue weight is a tad heavy....definitely more than the 450 lbs per specs. Overall functionality is awesome. It tows extremely well. My neighbour and his buddy keep bugging me to sell it to them, they both argue who would get first dibs if I decide to sell it. It is a very popular set up and you very seldom see used ones around.

Do you have any trouble of fish-tailing while driving since the slide (and so much weight) is in the back, or does it handle ok on the road?
Also, what are you using to tow? We have a F-150 3.5L Ecoboost. It has a good tow package, but you're all saying that the tongue is heavy, and I'm curious.

We have an X213, and it kind of fell into our laps via Craigslist. But we love it. The X213 was a little heavier than we were looking for then. Our TV is rated for 5,000 lbs, and it tows the X213 without any problems in the flats and slightly hilly areas, but I didn't want to chance it in the mountains (so we've upgraded the TV!). I liked the floorplan for the 23BHM, but it was definitely out of our weight class at the time.

Mine tows behind my Hemi 1/2 ton Dodge Ram beautifully. No issue with sway what so ever. I use a weigh distribution hitch. I will add air bags on my truck since I load items like generators, bikes extra coolers etc.

I tow an X213 with a Toyota Tacoma and it does fine.
