How do you remove faucet handle?

3 of my faucets have an ungodly squeak, especially at night time when other(s) are asleep . I would like access to apply some lubricant.
In my past experience there was an Alen screw you could remove but where the screw should be it is just a plastic plug below the surface.
You can't pull it out.
I tried pressing it in to see if it was a spring loaded push-to-release but that didn't work.
Anyone know the trick?

Pictures of faucets might help. Too many different types.

I’m going to make a guess that your faucet looks something like this. I use a small Phillips head screwdriver— in the picture the screwdriver is resting on a small white plastic pin—push the pin in and it will release the hand. Hope this helps!

Exactly. Can get a new one about $35 at Home Depot. Don't waste your time trying to lubricate the handles. Even if you do it right it won't last long. Cheap trash. Easy swap out.

Ah ha, thanks, I tried to do that but apparently didn't have the courage to push hard enough.

I didn't realize they were all plastic. They look f'ing gorgeous and except for the squeeeak they work perfectly. Ain't broke, ain't going to replace for the sake of a little oil.

I can guarantee you it can be removed. But without a close up of the handle, I would not know where to start.

If it was put together, it can be taken apart! I always say, I'll fix it or fix it so it can't be fixed!

I just replaced mine with a style that allows hands to actually fit under. I think engineers had a contest to see just how small they could make a faucet.

We replaced our faucet that was identical to the one Happy Wife Happy Life posted because it was hard to get my hands under the faucet. But yeah it’s 60 bucks or so for a new one and that’s a base model.
