s1njin - We discovered the same thing 2 years ago with our first hybrid and didn't feel comfortable with it either. This made the decision to upgrade from a X17Z to the X23B a lot easier.

We had 2012 X17Z that we towed with a 2009 Honda Pilot from NJ to Utah and back. No issues and the combo worked fine, just be careful of the amount of weight you put in it as there isn't much cargo...

We use a load distributing hitch with a sway bar for towing our X17Z. Last year we towed it over 6,000 miles and camped over 50 nights in it with no issues.
