I think the recommendation is to prevent us from bending an axle. I can see how it could happen if you lift by the axle at a point that is toward the center rather than directly under the springs....

Unless your tow vehicle has the in-dash factory trailer tire (ttpms) option you will have to use an aftermarket system. I highly recommend the TST-507 which can be purchased with valve stem sensors...
