Ordered a 12" square cast iron griddle to use in the outside kitchen burner. Now I wonder how to store it? It will stay seasoned and I don't want to create a mess or attract bugs and rodents. Thinking a tupperware-ish thing or big thick ziplock but looking for your wisdom here.
I learned it from my friend. Yeah, he keeps*a large ziplock bag with a paper towel inside [to absorb any excess moisture]. This will keep it safe, preserve its seasoning, and prevent bug issues. Or you can use a lidded plastic container.
We sewed two bath towels together “think big pillow case” made one for the cast iron griddle and one for the burner assembly. We just slide it into the basement storage for travel. The towels cushion the griddle and when we get home we can wash the bags if needed and we store the griddle inside the house. We also use this method for other cast iron cookware we take along.
