Boondocking in Moab

We are on our way to Arizona next week and we're planning to stop in Moab for two days. I saw the BLM sites along the river. Had anyone boondocked there, and is it really full all the time? Any recommendations?

We usually boondock off the road leading to Dead Horse Point, I think it is 313. There is a BLM campground called Horsethief which has no hookups, but cheap. Dead Horse Point has a campground, and this time of year you should be able to get a spot. Whatever you do, fill your water tanks if you go up 313, there may not be any water available. If I remember correctly, there is a place call Farm and City Feed and RV supply, on the south end of town where you can dump and fill for like $5.
I assume you are referring to the river road 128. It looks like there should be spots there, but honestly, I have never stayed there.

We parked it there last yearvbut wished we would have boondocked. As mentioned, this time of year, finding an open site shouldnt be an issue. We were there in May and lots of availability at camp sites even then. I dont recall all the places but the visitor center was really good with maps and advice.

We had our side by side in tow. Up toward Hurrah Pass, there were almost no one in the camp sites that way, but it was gravel road. Also the blm sites in the trails around Hells Revenge had availability. I think you will have your pick whatever you decide.
