Unhappy Propane H20 does not work

My propane water heater stopped working. The electric heater does. I have an Atwood GC6AA-10E model. I have gone through the preventive maintenance and cleaned things up, but still not working. When I turn it on with the propane switch there is a whining sound coming out on the top right hand side of the heater. Any ideas for me to check? I am now in WA and most places are booked till June, so I thought maybe someone had an idea while I wait. Thank you.

Hold on, I think you'll have quite a few people responding. Losing propane heat on the water heater is pretty common. Also look for some Youtube videos while you're waiting for folks to respond.

I don't have that model heater anymore but if I recall the causes were simple things, like ensure the vent tubes are insect free to more complicated circuit board stuff.

We have the 10 gallon version of that heater. The area that you said the whining is coming from is the main circuit board. [top right] You might try to unplug each wire one at a time and then plug it back in, although a bad connection probably wouldn't make a whining sound. Don't forget to unplug/plug back in the igniter wire as well. The first thing you should hear when you turn the propane switch on is a clicking sound from the igniter trying to light the propane.

Thumbs up Propane heater

Thank you for your input. No clicker sound, so will look at the igniter.

You might try asking on a site like RV.net - since that water heater is so common. No need to restrict your question to just us other Jayco owners.
