Stuck With Stuck Slideout

Just got a call from my sister. They need to get out of campground tonight but they have a slide that will not go in on their 2008 Eagle 29.5. Any suggestions on how to get it to slide in?

There should be a manual overide on it someplace. Being an 08 it is probably power gear. If it is the brake is on the end of the motor, your give it a turn and then use a ratchet on the end of the shaft to crank it in, then put the brake back on.

This is a keystone model, but the same concepts should apply. Skip to 1:45 seconds in the vid to get to the slide out instructions for manual operation.

Basically what Grumpy said, but maybe the video will help you explain the process.

They need access to the motor that isn't working and the ability to hand crank it.

I would *not* have 2 dudes try to brute force the slide in unless it was an emergency. I'm assuming your friends have power and this is a failure, not an 'out of juice' issue...

It may be the Power Gear thru frame rail slide which in that case the correct size open ended or adjustable wrench is needed to move the shaft that is normally turned by the motor, after disengaging the motor brake as mentioned.

Best advise is to call Lippert/Power Gear support for guidance;

Please let us know how they make out.

Thanks for your response. Below is a text from my sister. Sounds like all is well.
"Our neighbor saw us backing up to an empty lot with our slider out and he offered to help. He's an electrician! He found a dead ground wire on the one side. So he jumped it from the good side and got the slider in."
