Hey Guy's, How About Full-timers

I've been reading about everyone's RV insurance stories. I was able to get full coverage insurance on our 2018 Eagle 5th wheel for $250 a year. I wanted to know if anyone had some insight on full-timer RV insurance. I'm preparing to retire in the next couple of years, and will need to live in our 5th wheel temporarily for a few months, and I know that our current insurance won't cover full-timers. I've looked into it a little, and it seems that there are various coverage options for the various prices out there. As this will only be a temporary situation (6 to 8 months), we would be willing to try to get the best coverage we can at a higher price if need be. Does anyone out there have any good recommendations? Thanks.

I use AARP The Hartford. However, I live in Tampa which is one of the most expensive areas in the nation, so I don't know how it compares with other places. (I try to check every year) Whenever I check prices they always have the lowest rates. I never checked Safeco.

Insurance

I had coverage with State Farm until early 2016, RV rates went up nearly DOUBLE and house and cars went up 35-40%. Switched to AAA Texas, now paying $218/yr on the RV, $4000/yr for a BMW, Ford F150 and Ford C-max and a house (that's $2400 of it.).

When I asked for a quote at the higher 100k/300k coverages I wanted, the rate was triple what Progressive quoted us. Switched back and have been mostly happy ever since. When the toyhauler was stolen, they handled everything right away with almost zero hassle. Never zero hassle any time you deal with insurance!!
I might look at Safeco and National General again just to see if what we are paying is close.
Yesterday I just switched to National General via Good Sams (who offers insurance through many companies)

I had a quote for $505 with progressive at ACV of $28K - I was paying 1100 through Adirondack for ACV (adjusted cash value and was underisnsured)

I now have replacement cost coverage $65K at 479 and $300K liability(which was with all of the above).

2018 Jayco 322RLOK new 5/2/18.

I use Safeco for my Jayco TTrailer, tow vehicle, 2 cars, house, boat, and umbrella. Combining all your needs compounds the discounts. Safeco depends on their agents to do much of your servicing. Make sure you are comfortable with your agent. Online tools for communicating directly with Safeco are excellent! I pay online with credit card and are extremely happy with Safeco after 5 years of continuous coverage. I just compared rates for the combined requirements above, and they're still the best in my state. Compare Safeco with GoodSam, AAA, and AARP (if you're over 50).

USAA.. with two vehicles and an RV it costs us about $800 a year for all three. We have been with them since 1967 and get sizeable returns on our Subscriber Savings Account and Senior Discount.

We use USAA for our 2014 Flight 26BH. Around $210 per year.

Hey Mike, We are with USAA and tried to get a quote for a MH online but they switched me to Progressive...something about 'our' alliance partner. Maybe its different for a trailer?

Since we are both Veterans, DW contacted USAA. Because of the F450, CS stated that they do not cover F450s and Progressive would handle - she also stated she was not sure Progressive would handle the F450. Stayed with National General. We have been with them since 2007.

We got a quote from USAA a few years back and they would not write a homeowners policy due to my area code. To close to the ocean.

The vehicle insurance was competitive but the package would not work for us without the group discount.

That is the KEY!!!! Total replacement Cost...……..National General-Good Sam is the only insurer with that coverage. I researched a lot when USAA increased my insurance over $1100/year last May 2018. Got a lot lip service from USAA, went with everything thru Good Sam-National General. Had 2 agents check recently and nobody can compare price and coverage.

Its about coverage and money...………...I never understood the USAA mentality, they never did me any favors. The Progressive RV insurance won't cover total replacement cost and is higher cost.

Its all about stick to it with USAA
We pay less than 1500! a year for three vehicles and a big house ( not in a flood zone but with iffy fire department response)
That subsciber savings account and senior discount work fine but first you have to get there
USAA since 1967

I have National General and while I like the replacement coverage, it is based on the MSRP and not the price you buy at or the amount financed. This replacement value is one factor in determining the premium. I still like NG but I don’t agree with how they determine the replacement value!

I was told not to admit that because one the insurance will either be drastically higher or they won’t cover it at all and two you’ll have no warranty on the unit.
