mail? what do you do about your snail mail?

We would like to take extended trips away from home, but do not know what to do about our snail mail? many bills are on-line or auto-pay, but we do get important information in the regular mail from time to time! What do other folks do about mail?

We stop newspaper delivery and turn in a USPS form 8076 to hold our mail for up to 30 days. All other bills are on auto pay or email notification and are handled via the net or iphone.
If we ever are gone for over 30 days, the plan will have to be modified with a mail forwarding service.

I have a PO Box and a close friend checks in every week and throws most of it away since it is junk.

There are several mail forwarding services that will issue you a street address with a suite # (so they can receive packages for you). At your direction, they will receive your mail, sort out the junk, and forward it to your temporary post office box or campground office. Many will scan the envelopes & post them to your E-mail; and (at your direction) even open and scan the mail for you. Some offer monthly service: some yearly service. Some are national, some may be located in your area. You might want to try a Google search to find some worth further investigation. If you don't have family or friends to help you out, that may be an option you'll want to explore.

If you have a MH join FMCA, they have a mail forwarding service that works great. Also the Post office has a forwarding system that you can use, but it is very hard to change addresses as you travel.
