I use a Black & Decker smart charger with my genny for optimized charging power. My batteries are located at the front of the TT and my converter/charger at the rear, and even with my new upgraded 4-stage converter/charger the B & D charger can deliver a higher charging rate "at the battery terminals".
Going to a heavier gauge wire between the batteries and converter/charger would enhance the charging effectiveness, that mod hasn't made my short list yet.
