Chlorine and fresh water hose

When I sanitize my fresh water system I usually pour the chlorine into the FW hose and then fill the tanks. I was just reading the manual for something else and found this statement: "Do not use your non-toxic drinking water hose, pour the chlorine solution into the gravity fill". Anyone know why they would say not to use the hose? Has anyone who uses that method run into any problems?

Hello,
I’m wondering if it is okay to sanitize my fresh water hose using a chlorine / water solution mix like I would use in my fresh water holding tank on my RV? I was planning on letting it stay in the hose for 4hrs and then thoroughly flush it.
Thank you,
John

My guess is that it's just a safety disclaimer. Bleach is highly reactive oxidizer and might have a bad reaction with some of the plastics in some hoses. Or they might be worried that you pour a slug of bleach in your hose and then "fuggadaboudit" resulting in a mess.

Just a guess.

I hate spilling bleach, so what I do, as it works with my htt. I take the shower head off the outside shower, shove the pipe down my gravity fill port.

Then take a gallon of water with the bleach in it. Use the antifreeze port to pump the solution into the gravity fill port. Then use the hose to fill the fw tank.
