First you connect the pump hose to the sewer hookup or a garden hose depending on where and how far you are sending the waste. Then you....

1) make sure the gravity valve is closed for your tanks.
2) open up the valve that leads back to the pump. Valve should be close to the gravity valve and probably facing under the unit vs out.
3) open up black tank valve and turn on pump
4) once black tank is empty close black tank valve
5) open gray tank valve
6) once gray tank is empty close gray tank valve
7) turn off pump
8) put up hose or leave it there for the next time.

At least that is what i do...

I have always been very diligent about cleaning my black tank, flushing until the clear coupling showed clean water. There is no way to do this with the macerater hose so l bought a new dump hose and clear coupler to do the old fashioned way. Am I wasting my time?

Sure you can flush it through through the pump. Just turn on the flush while dumping the black and let it go for 5-10 minutes extra. I do that when i am leaving a site. Can't see what is going on but really do not care to.

FWIW i still do the old fashioned way most of the time when staying at sites with full hookups. If i do not, I am dumping my gray water a couple times a day because of the kitchen sink and its tank. We fill up that tank cleaning up from breakfast and lunch... So when i am at a full hookup for more than 2 days i do it with gravity and leave the gray water open until the day before i leave.

Just my preference.

The macerator pump is nice to have and if you read through the Jayco manual it states that it will probably be all you use. BUT i have to disagree. I use the "old fashion" gravity and pump method about equal. It all depends on your camping style and setup at any given time.

I actually looked at having this option installed when I ordered my trailer. I struggled with what value it was actually going to add...

I got hung up on the idea of trying to macerate solids so they could go through a garden hose rather than a 4" pipe.

I don't really care what form the waste comes out the end and the idea of unclogging a macerator pump due to operator error just didn't appeal to me.

It seems like a solution in search of a problem....

Got this one from Camping World about 4 yrs ago. Use it when the fiver is parked at brother's house or here at home. Use it with the clear 45 elbow with the flush. Lengthened the power leads so I can hook it up to my truck. Dump tank, backfill with water, dump tank, repeat until clean. At the campsite I use the 3" sewer hose.

After using the macerator on my Precept I won't go back to the gravity fed 4" slinky unless I absolutely have to. I place the end of the macerator hose into the sewer dump, open the black valve and then turn the macerator pump on. After it has emptied the black tank I then turn the pump off, close the black tank valve, open the grey water tank valve and turn the pump back on. After the grey tank is empty I turn the pump off, close the grey valve and then lift the hose to drain the residual water. Then I coil the hose back into its storage compartment. I also have a black water flush which I will use when I have a full hookup site allowing me to take my sweet old time. The advantage of the macerator is the hose is already connected and it only takes 2-3 minutes to empty both tanks whereas the old slinky method requires connecting, emptying, disconnecting, flushing and then storing the hose somewhere. Not to mention that using gravity feed can take quite awhile depending on how full the tanks are. I have owned a number of travel trailers over the past 30 years so I have emptied quite a few black and grey tanks during my lifetime. The macerator on my Precept IMHO is light years ahead of the old slinky method and I won't look backwards. Just my opinion...

Glad to hear the black and grey are hooked up to The macerator.
There was some confusion when I talked to the Jayco tech about this topic.

On the recommendation of another forum member, I will be installing an isolation valve between the macerator pump outlet and the slinky hose. On my current setup, there is nothing between the black/gray discharge knife valves and the end of the slinky hose. So if you get a hole in the slinky hose, there is no way to stop the leak even if you use the alternate gravity drain hose setup.

Also, the design of the macerator impeller does make it susceptible to clogging with lint, hair, fibrous material. I have put traps on all my house drains to minimize this and having to pull the pump apart to clean.

Is there a clear elbow that fits between the CG drain and the macerator hose end? I am not comfortable knowing when the tank is empty. Pump pitch not helpful.

You can attach a clear elbow between your tanks drain and the macerator pump.
