Really good water pressure regulator
Hi everyone. A while back I posted a thread on who regulated their water pressure or not. It seems most everyone does it. One of you suggested that I buy the Watts H560G water regulator. I searched on line and the cheapest I could find one was $68. Wow, that's expensive. I kept looking and found them at Menards for $47. Order online and have it shipped to the store free, or for another $10, you can have it shipped to your house. I realize that it's still pretty expensive, but if you camp a lot and your shower pressure isn't very good [like mine] it's worth the added expense. Menards part # is 0355020. All brass with an easy adjustment from 40 to 60 psi., hose fittings, and an easy to read gauge for dummies like me. Just a thought. Terry

Watts is the best and the best is never cheap, less than the best also is not cheap when you consider the cost of dealing with a flooded trailer. It just depends on how lucky you feel.

Terry, Have you tried using one of the Oxegenics shower heads that Camping World sells? They mix air in with the water supply at the nozzle head. Even when using your 12 volt pump the sprays fees much stronger than a normal shower head. One of the problems with water pressure in a trailer is the filters have to be kept clean or your pressure will be lowered. Both the filters at my kitchen and bathroom faucets were getting plugged. I always check the strainer by the water pump. Btw the regulaters can only regulate the pressure as high as the supply line psi from what I know.

Thanks for the reply Murph, I've been looking at the Oxygenics shower heads. I have the Shurflo Revolution pump which maxes out at 55psi. I have great shower pressure while on the pump. It's when I'm on full hookups using the cheapie Walmart regulator[40-50, more like 40] is when it gets weak. On our last trip out in the fall, I actually took the regulator off and hooked directly into the water source and the pressure was great. I only did this for a few minutes because I got scared, but I wanted to test it. Faucet pressure seems fine all the time, but I guess I wouldn't notice that as much. I think I'll give the Watts a try as it has a 3/4 in. opening to allow more gpm. If that doesn't work, I'll still have a great regulator to

I agree with having a good regulator. Most of the cheaper ones are set at 40 psi . My father-in- law never used a regulator and never had a problem in all the years he rved. I have been to parks where the pressure was so high you needed a regulator. My documentation from Jayco state the plumbing is tested to 100 psi.

I purchased a Oxygenics shower head and what a differance it made. I have tried alot of differant kinds and this one is by far the best. We are going to put one in the house. There is something about them that make them feel good. You see post that people don't like them. But I don't see that. Good Luck.

My Watts N45B is over 12 years old and going strong. No problems or repairs.

The one from Menards is what I have. The "little" ones from the RV store reduce the volume too much, they only have a 3/8 opening in most cases.

I bought the fancy regulator too. In hindsight I dry camp 95% of the time. As my home water pressure is low, I'm still, nearly a year later. waiting to put the thing to use...
Go figure....

I started out with the Watts H560, but after a few months changed to the Watts 263A. The 560 worked fine, but the 263A has double the flow rate. I got the oil filled gauge on the 263A after having a gauge failure on the 560. I fulltime so the extra cost doesn't bother me a bit.

We've traveled throughout the U.S. and Eastern half of Canada. The only time we ran across high water pressure was out West. And even then the campground warned us to use a pressure regulator. Regulators do NOT increase the flow of water. They only regulate the pressure so that it won't exceed a preset PSI.
In regard to water filters we found this style works best with a carbon cartridge element. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...r-filter/12874 with this ground mounting bracket:

Happy trails,

Terry,
What PSI do you usually have it set at?

The one I've been using [the walmart camco brand] is preset at 40 to 50 psi. More like 40. I just got the Watts yesterday and it was preset at 40psi. I will adjust it up to 55psi max, the same as my sureflo pump pumps. Did i just type that? Anyway, a little disappointed with the Watts as it contains .25% lead, and no where on their website, or Menards did it say that before I ordered it. I wonder if they all contain lead. I'll have to research that. Bob's right, regulators don't increase water flow, they just squeeze it a little. lol

I bought my Watts 263A all SS construction about 14 years ago, along with 3 rebuild kits. Transfered it from MH to MH, still working fine. Disassembled it a few times to clean it, about 5 years ago I added an ON-THE-GO water softner and haven't had to clean it since. I always set the pressure at or slightly above my pump's maximum psi rating.

We've been using the fairly cheap Camco pressure regulator like http://www.amazon.com/Camco-40052-Br...N%3DB003870V24. The Camco regulator sometimes squeals and clicks when we are using water. Does a quality regulator make similar noises?
