Stove igniter problem

The igniter stopped working on the front element on our stove a few weeks ago. The igniter works by turning a knob on the front left of the stove. I found that the wire going to the front element was wrapped around the gas line multiple times prior to connecting at the element. The heat from the element had melted the insulation off the wire and it was shorting out on the gas line. I fixed the wire and rerouted it away from the heat source. I mention this incase any of you run into the same problem.

Thanks, Richard - we have had no problems with our ignitors so far, but will certainly check out the wiring for potential problems. Really appreciate your giving us a heads up on this.

Ours had a similar problem. One came disconnected at the source. Another was arching to the bottom. Wrapped it with some electrical tape and hopefully it will not get to hot for the tape.

A long time ago I found it easier to use a BBQ lighter for the stove top.. I dont think I have ever even tried the igniter in my Jayco..
