Traveling through Baltimore, MD
In the near future we will be taking a trip north to Cape May, NJ to visit family. Our route will take us up I-95 north through Baltimore, MD.
I know on I-95 going through Baltimore there is a tunnel. Are there any restrictions for the propane tanks or height? Will I have to go around and take another way?
Thanks in advance.

I just went thru this tunnel the other day. I remember seeing a restriction sign and thought I was going to get pulled over on the other side. I don't know if I made a mistake or could have gone another way but glad it worked out since my propane was on cooling the fridge!
I was able to find this for our return trip.

Tells you that you must use the Baltimore beltway. GL!

You are not supposed to drive thru that tunnel with propane on. The link listed in the previous post may help some. I did the same thing you did years back and nothing blew up and no one stopped me but I never did it again.

I am betting if I take the I-695 north beltway I will have a little easier time. It will skip the tunnel and be about the same time depending on traffic...according to Google maps. Thanks. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm pretty sure propane tanks are not allowed in the two Baltimore tunnels,
period.
They are like the tunnels into NYC. Propane not allowed.
They are unlike the tunnels of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, and the tunnel between Hampton and Norfolk on I-64 where the tanks just need to be turned off.

Actually, you're not allowed to drive through those tunnels with propane tanks, period. On or not.
Here's a link to Maryland DOT on the subject:
Propane Regulations
And here's the text:
Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) govern the transport of hazardous materials across our toll facilities. Under these regulations, vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895). The Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695, the Baltimore Beltway) is a convenient alternative route for crossing Baltimore's Harbor.
You can also take the Beltway west, also I-695, but it's a bit longer.

I know that now. I was a newbie and when I saw the signs on a Sunday morning, it was to late to turn around.

I you are heading to I-95 from I-70 just follow the Beltway North as you mentioned, no need to be anywhere near the Tunnels.
If getting on 95 further south you can head west on I-695 than North, or East I-695 & take the Key Bridge. 50/50 either way.
As Stated: Do not try to take you RV thru the Tunnels.
