Visiting sites with the trailer attached to the truck

I am planning to visit Arizona . I would start my trip from Montreal Canada. That would be my very first long trip spreaded on about 2 / 3 months.

I have a book mentionning what to visit all along the road, they describe place you visit nearby the campgroud, and also place you can visit during your next portion of the trip toward the next destination.

Per example the Mercedes Benz tour in Vance Alabama.... now would you take a chance to go there to visit with the trailer attached to the truck ? Im always afraid to have no parking or to look like an idiot for just thinking about going to place like that when Im hook up to the trailer .

So what are you doing on long trip with stuff to visit for an hour or two ? Do you take your chance
F150 + 24RBS must be close to 55 + or - 5 feet long

Thanks guys

We have visited alot of tourist sites while traveling with the camper. In fact, when we visited Ft. McHenry in Baltimore last year I ended up putting the front wheels of the truck up over the curb so the trailer wasn't hanging out of the parking spot in the aisle. We parked in the bus area, but a bus is only 45 ft long or so and our truck and trailer are in the 55-60 ft range. That is the first trouble we have ever run into like that, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Used a TT for years traveling all over the US and got in a couple of sticky situations. Whether with MH or TT I now call the site and ask about parking. If not advisable I locate the neatest Walmart, Cabellas, Bass Pro, etc. and drop the TT for a couple of hours and visit the sites I want to see. Takes a little longer but means a whole lot less stress.
Happy Trails!

I would suggest checking out the places you want to go on Google Earth or something similar. See what kind of access they have, the parking situation, etc. Get a good idea of what you would be facing before you get there, and plan your trip accordingly.

Most everyplace has a phone number, why not call and ask if it will be an issue?

That sounds like a wonderful trip for you. I agree with the others, either check on google maps or google earth along with calling if in doubt. Btw, we love Montreal. We spent our honeymoon in Quebec City then rode VIA Rail to Montreal. Some summer in the near future, we hope to RV across Canada all the way to PEI. Have fun and keep us posted on your adventure. Oh, and be sure to post pictures.
