New Alante 26X
We picked up our new 2016 Alante 26X on 16 November after selling our 5th wheel and F350. After a thorough PDI that had 3 techs working to correct some problems, we paid and drove home in the dark. I was actually more comfortable behind the wheel than I anticipated. I had read many negative comments on the driving characteristics of the Class A and was somewhat concerned. I immediately did the CHF and started to test the unit. I discovered a number of negatives that should have been corrected/caught before Jayco released the motor home. There were three large holes in the floor to allow entry of plumbing and electrical, all were open to the elements; one under the sink, one under the stove drawer, and one in the bathroom. I sealed with Great Stuff Rodent Control. The coax cable from the basement to the electronics cabinet was not connected, and the coax connectors were poorly attached. 6 of 12 screws attaching the mud flaps were broken and one mud flap frame was not attached to the motor home. The list goes on. I believe I have now corrected all deficiencies and today did another test run. The ride was much better, the CHF made a noticeable difference and the drive up to 105 km (65 mph) was actually enjoyable. We love the layout and look forward to a trip to the RGV.
