For my purposes, it benefits in the following ways: #1 - We have Verizon phones for best service where we live, but this allows wi-if where we camp most often where AT&T offers a much better signal. My wife can now work remotely from the campground. #2 - no contract commitment. #3 - It stands on it's own so no adjustment to any existing plan or shared data restrictions. #4 - no throttling reported (yet).
It's not for everyone, I admit. If you're already with AT&T, you may or may not be able to save $$$ going this route. Others are from what I have read. I also won't be able to do justice to 32 pages of a thread in a paragraph or two here. For me, I read through the first 6 pages or so and decided it was right for our needs. It is definitely a "run the numbers" and "decide for yourself" opportunity.
