2237 Hey dg, have ya dried out yet from that big rain? Starting to look dry here, and the Great Dismal Swamp is on fire, 10% contained. (How can a swamp catch on fire? Another one of those imponderables)

Crabman, all of our playa lakes were dry until the 2" rain we got last Thursday and they filled up fast with the runoff because we are flat here and the ground is like asphalt because of the drought. Today the weatherman just said the levels were now going down and we are in for another 10-20 days of near or at 100 degrees so the drought is still on. Hopefully in another 2238 more hours we may get more rain......hopefully. And we have definately had our share of fires around here and the rest of Texas.

2239 Yeah I know it takes a bunch of rain to bust a long term severe drought like you have experienced. It would probably take some tropical storm type rains to get the ground moist again and the water levels up.
