Drop down hitch

My 8 inch drop down came today

Normally I would buy on the on line Big trailer hitch company but it was $40 less at the Big “A” on Line retailer

We sell that stuff at Napa. I use the Lucas Ethanol treatment and SeaFoam motor treatment to treat all my small engine fuel. I buy the highest octane fuel I can get from Chevron and add both those to the five gallon can I keep my fuel in.

Changed the house water filter (#8), but this time it leaked bad as I turned the water back on. Made sure Rubber O-ring was on as I screwed it on very tight. Was not crossed threaded, but turns out, the canister had another 1/4 turn left. I can only guess the top filter end rubber washer didn’t insert into the head right. Filter is behind the wet bay and made quite a mess. So I finally made an alignment mark with a sharpie to not have to go thru this again. This might help others to not make this mistake. Can you relocate it to a more accessible place?

Got the double clothes line mounted in the shower today. Used a spare piece of wood as a backer. All I had on hand were some 4” screws, so I’ll need to cut the length a bit on another day.

I also had some straps in the garage that I used on my fresh water & gray hoses instead of keeping them in the ziplock tubs.

Id like to relocate it into the wet bay if it’ll fit and be able to handle tightening torque and not crack the plastic wall. I see this on newer models and so I need to get over the jitters and about time I do this on our approaching 5 year old rig.

Nice additions Dan! The DW likes the clothes line mod.

Lubricating the O ring really helps also.

Yes indeed! Was going to do some light maintenance and clean all p traps today, but wait...what’s that new noise we hear above the kitchen slide this morning after a front blew through?Click image for larger version

So DW and I crawled up ladders to remove the 13’ topper and find an upholstery shop. Ended up also removing the dinette slide topper as all the stitching is now gone from it too. Then I see the stitching is also gone on the midbunk slide topper. I can only assume the master slide topper is similar and these are still holding somehow.

Then I see where screws that hold the rear dinette slide topper mount are missing!

Then I see just how dirty the slide tops are! Time to wash.

YT vids say it’s safe to walk on. I’m 230, big feet, it felt soft n spongy, then I hear a “crack”! Nope, don’t think so. Obviously roof is not as sturdy as its floor.

It will be interesting when I get up there re-install the repaired topper fabric. I’ll have to use a plywood kneeling board. What a day.

Is the material decent enough to repair? I helped a friend replace the material on one of his slides and the replacement material he purchased was 10 times better than the OEM and not that expensive.

Your wet bay enclosure is plastic?! Mine is metal. You could use rubber washers on both sides if you're worried about the plastic cracking. That would help.

Yes. They both still look ok. Both 13’ slides material is 48” wide and therefore have plenty material to make a new channel and stitch. I’ll have him do a double stitch. Hopefully the factory material has another four years or more. But if not, then we’ll buy replacement material.

Looks plastic, I’m assuming it’s plastic, I’ve not verified if it’s metal. Thanks though!

Did a quick once-over after a rare snowfall last night. I know, that’s another day at the office for most of you, but 5” for us is unusual. It was in the 70s barely a week or so ago.

I went ahead and drilled 2 holes in the side of mine to hopefully keep the crack from running on the front bedroom slide. I had previously contacted Vogt RV in Fort Worth, Tx about their fix as a last ditch effort. They told me that they thought they would be able to have Jayco cover it under warranty, but Jayco denied and Vogt said it would be $7,500 out of my pocket to fix. I elected to go with drilling and filling in with silicone. Hopefully it works!

Dan, I think you just saved $7,499.99..........had to count something toward the silicone.
