Attention Skylark owners
For those that aren't owners of Skylarks, this post may also pertain to you.
This week while on a trip in a remote area, I needed to change a tire on my 2011 Skylark. I had all the tools I needed, or so I thought. I discovered a problem with one tire while filling up the tow vehicle with gas. I parked on a level paved area, chocked the wheel that was not being worked on, broke the lugs slightly loose before taking the weight off, got the jack ready, etc. Then before jacking up the trailer, I went to get the spare so it was ready. I unlocked the padlock that kept the slide in place. Then I grabbed the end of the slide and pulled.....it wouldn't budge. I put both feet against the frame and pulled with both arms for all I was worth.....nothing moved. I took a hammer around to the other side of the trailer and whacked the back end of the part that is supposed to slide...nothing moved. Then, my weary eyes noticed that there is only one bolt holding the slide in place. I was able to remove the bolt and get the tire out. After a bit more sweat than should have been necessary, I was able to change the tire.
I will be sure to add dropping the spare and lubricating the slide to the annual must do list.
