Took my trailer out to a gravel pit this weekend to do some shooting.

Came time to get the water heater going. Hmmm. No workee. I dug out the manual. Hmmm. No spark to light the pilot. I spent a few minutes mulling this all over ---- OH YES!!!!!! There is no igniter! I went in and got the BBQ lighter and PRESTO! Fire! :lizard:

I think I'll write a message on the inside of the cover so I don't have to go through this again!

Next trick - I have never used the awning. Well, what a performance that was! Nearly got crowned a couple of times, and managed to bust the strap that is used to pull the thing down. It must have been rotten or damaged. Not sure just how I will fix that. Act II was getting the thing rolled back up. I think it is supposed to retract, but the thingamajig wouldn't release so I had to hold the little lever back manually. It got up out of reach so I had to dig out my windshield scraper to use! Geez! Stupid awnings!

But I did have a good two days of bachelor grub, and peace and quiet!

The strap is a replaceable item. Just slides into the groove on the roller.

LOL... nuthin' like bachelor grub to cool things down a bit!

Thanks for finding out the strap is replaceable......... I mean if I need one in the future.

We got our trailer in September and never used the awning. My brother and I took our Dad out to kick off the camping season again in mid April and opened the awning in afternoon after setting up. We went to close it about 11pm and had a hell of a time. There was 3 of us and we all probably had too much milk from our red solo cups. My brother ended up pulling the entire arm out of the awning track. It's the arm that has the tension screw on it. Then our Dad unscrewed the tension screw too much and the entire fitting came apart. I had given my family a vidoe camera so they could tape the camper walkthrough when they picked it up. I put it on a DVD and we keep it in the camper. We went inside to watch the video and then somehow managed to sort of get the awning back up although it was a bit crooked.

The next morning we got up to look at things with a clear head and finally were able to get it back together the right way. We didnt open it again during that trip. When we finally got home I put the camper in my driveway and I looked at the camper walkthrough again and took my time opening and closing the awning. By now, it's a breeze to do. Nothing to it.
