Just a Few Additions

We just added a few improvements to our new White Hawk -- trying to make it our own and more comfortable.

-- Replaced the 26" TV in the living area with a 32", installed a wall mount in the bedroom and put the 26" TV there
-- Put adjustable wire shelves from Wal-Mart in both upper kitchen cabinets so that there are now two levels for better use of storage space
-- Replaced the foam mattress with a new innerspring mattress from Camping World
-- Ordered LED lights from Amazon to install on the awning
-- Installed a MaxxAir vent
-- Ordered a Tailgater satellite dish and receiver from Camping World

That's it for now. We're heading to Florida later in the week for a 6-day camping trip.

Your list looks a lot like ours: we've installed adjustable shelving in the big kitchen cabinet, may do so in the smaller one. Just installed the replacement mattress from CW, installed the MaxxAir and awning lighting (and ordered a second lighting kit to install underneath the gutter, just in case we don't want to open the awning for some reason. Have also installed some towel bars and LED battery powered lights in dim areas; carpet on floor of main pass-thru storage and on the top two metal steps for the main door.

Our first trip is scheduled for May 17-18, will post a report & photos after we return.

Let us know how your Florida run goes!

I did forget to add that we've ordered carpet for the outside folding steps -- sure helps keep the interior cleaner.

We've camped in Florida many times over the years, but this will be our first trip to Rocky Bayou in Niceville. When we first started camping in Destin about 13 years ago, we discovered Topsail Hill State Park. At that time, you could drive in with no reservation and have plenty of sites to choose from -- not so anymore. They were all booked up, so we decided to try Rocky Bayou. It looks really clean and quiet but is just across the bridge from Destin. We've got a good bit to do to finish these upgrades before we leave. The few trips we've taken in our new White Hawk have only been for one or two nights, so this will be a real test.
