Water pump relation to battery voltage

I'm making this separate for those who don't want to read my whole water pump cycling issue thread.


I would not think so....but I'm grasping at straws here....

Could a lower battery voltage after some battery use be contributing to this pump cycling?

It seems that once I plug in my solar charger and the voltage comes up the problem lessens greatly.

Problem is water pump cycles for 1/2 second every 5-10 minutes.

One of two things could be happening.
1 You may have a very small leak and are losing pressure somewhere.
2 The seals in the water pump are worn and it is losing pressure.
3 IMO a battery with low voltage would have nothing to do with your pump cycling.

... or with the higher voltage does the pump run a bit faster and so the pressure goes quickly to a higher pressure... which then takes longer for the 'leak' (wherever it is) drop the pressure down to where the pump kicks on again?

Thank you for the replies. oldmanAZ none of that happens which I could see being part of the symptoms if it was the voltage.


Pump works normally all around except for the cycling. It is most likely a small leak although it's been to the dealer 3 times and they say no leak. Water pump is new.


THe toilet holes inside rim seems to be "weeping" a bit of water into the bowl...


The cycling is much more frequent in when it's cold or cool outside. Was ever 5 mins this morning. Now I'd say every 10-15.

Do you ever hook up to shore power for any extended period of time? If so, how does the pump react?

Personally, I doubt it has anything to do with the power. Every pump cycling issue I have encountered involves some type of leak. I would first start by looking for water around every joint you can reach, including faucet connections. Wrap a little TP around any joints that you question. When TP gets wet and dries, it will have a unique wrinkly look. Look closely at the low point drain valves, you may have a little construction debris in the O-Rings, or they might have gotten nicked. One of mine started a slow drip, added a little plumbers grease to the O-Ring and it stopped immediately. Also check your filter screen right before the pump. Mine was full of mirco fractures (looked like scratches), and caused a lot pump cycling, and was getting worse every trip. At camp one weekend it really started to cycle alot (no water leak), I wrapped electrical tape around the screen bowl, and most of the cycling stopped (warranty repair).
