Wet spots on carpet next to slide out

It had been raining for literally two full days non-stop. That alone could be the reason I suppose but I am concerned. My 7 month White Hawk 30 DSRE has three wet spots on the carpet next to the slide by the dinette and closet that has the water heater and furnace. There is no wetness by windows or walls or roof. It is as if it is coming up from underneath. Maybe weeping down the bottom of the slide? Should I be alarmed or could this just be due to a slightly unlevel side to side situation making some of the moisture get along the underside seal and intruding into the interior? It's not pooling water but more of a soaking up like a sponge.

Do I need to have this dealt with as a problem? Doubt it can be replicated for the dealer unless I can get another two day monsoon to happen while the camper is there to show them. First time I am seeing this happen and been out probably 6-8 times since I bought it. Never rained quite this bad though during other trips.

A year later and this never happened again. I am almost certain this was a slightly off level situation that caused heavy rain water to run under the slide and to the edge of the RV such that water weeped into the carpet attached the the slide.

I thought this might be a useful thing for others to know. If you see this then it's probably a simple leveling adjustment will fix the problem.

Water intrusion in RVs is scary and potentially quite expensive. However, if the symptom looks like mine above then it could be premature to panic.

Fortunately this dried up in a day and there was no damage or indication that this ever occurred.

Thanks for the update. I had a similar situation beside our bed a few weeks ago and have no idea how the water got there - no indication of water along the wall or floor, just a puddle in the middle of the floor. What's more puzzling is that it's a linoleum floor. I was going to blame the dog, but she hadn't been in there when I found the puddle. I also had a puddle in the basement the first week we had the TT, but nothing since then and we've been through a lot worse weather since.

I would think that being level is important in the rain. At first I was going to suggest that you get a different dog.

Judging by the picture you uploaded, the wet spot I see seems very centralized and does not seem to connect to where the slide is, sould this possibly be leaking from an overhead vent? If it were seeping in I would expect to see a larger wet area but this seems to be a small round "puddle" looking wet mark which suggests dripping from overhead.

Had a similar issue with a previous Keystone TT that I traced to an overnite on the road when we had the slide open with temps near freezing. When we got to our CG site that afternoon and opened up, we had a puddle in the middle of the floor near the back of where the slide would be when closed. Figured we had frost built up on the sides of the slide that melted after being closed as the temps rose during the heat of the morning.

One time issue but something to look at if you close up at first light after a cold frosty night.

Nope. I went outside during the rain on the second day and was able to watch a stream of water go down the slide and across the bottom toward that area. I took a stick and touched it to the stream to redirect the flow. That made the stream follow the stick to the ground. It was like watching a big drop of water flow that if only it would "let go" would have hit the ground but instead followed the path right into the RV.

The stick redirected the flow until I could do better at leveling side to side after the rain subsided. Even during the rain once I redirected that bead of water that was flowing the carpet started to dry out.

But also, there is no overhead vent near that slide. The vents are in a line along the other side of the RV.

Also, I felt under the carpet since you can kind of lift it up on the edge of the slide. It was more wet underneath than it was on top. The entire floor under there was very wet. Only those spots managed to soak through up to the surface of the carpet.

When this happened I was still new at maneuvering a larger travel trailer and just didn't have it very level. I'm much better at it now. 😊
