There are a few basis suspension parts that are different going from 2500 to 3500 but that all there is. You have to decide if you need the extra payload, if you do then it's not much of a decision.
From my point of view the best TV is the one with the title in the glovebox. Looking at it that way I put a lot of thought into why am I spending on payload that I am not going to use......On the other hand if I am going to use the extra I am willing to pay for it.

When I ordered my truck in march I almost went with the 2500...but after looking at payload numbers and various pin weights for toy haulers, I decided the 3500 srw was the way to go. I have 4075 payload and am good for most average size fivers. I use it as my dd also

I am thinking of going to an air ride suspension kit they sell for about 3500 dollars to change front and rear to air ride ... If that tells you how much I like the trucks ability lol ... I do like the dually rears not so much for payload as for stability , it just seems more stable to me when pulling a load

I had a F350 dually w/7.3. It was a great truck and if the auto trans. would hold up I would still be driving it. That was its waterloo as they say.

When we bought our truck w looked at a dually. We went with 2500 Duramax because it is easier to park. Plus the 3/4 is more truck than we need.

Thanks to all of you for your input. Ordered a SRW GMC SLT 4X4 3500 Duramax last night. Delivery is about 8 weeks. After reading all the posts I feel good about the decision I made to commit the extra$ and go with the 3500. A bit of overkill for now but in a few years when I upgrade I'll have more options available with the available payload.
Going to the Louisville Boat & RV show this weekend......"just to look around". Just to be sure, in case I can't fight the urge, I'm leaving the checkbook home.

Todays HD SRW and DRW trucks have really improved towing and ride.
We went from a 2500HD SRW Chevy to a 3500HD DRW GMC a few years ago when we still had our Pinnacle.
Our Pinnacle weighed in at 15,700 lbs. with a pin weight of 3,700 lbs.
The 2500HD pulled it fine but in heavy cross winds in Texas, it was getting pushed around quite a bit.
Since we fulltime and move every few weeks, we moved to our current DRW before going Coast to Coast last year, sure glad we did, much more stable in those heavy cross winds out west.
Now that we have a SOB 5er that is larger, longer and heaver than our Pinnacle, sure glad to have the extra capacity and the stability of our DRW.

It is difficult finding the perfect match for towing a rig and allowing for the next rig while thinking about navigating the Walmart parking lot and the fast food line.
It is a great feeling when you figure it out.

My truck is a 3500 SRW with 3:73 gears and I have no regrets.
