Yet another tire story
In '15 2 of or TowMax tires destroyed themselves in a 75 mile stretch and a third was on its way to joining its newly departed brothers.
We upgraded (read $$$) to Goodyear G614's and never looked back. Now in early '17 we're planning a couple of long-ish trips this year. Contemplating our travels drew my attention to the spare which has maybe 100 mi on it and while a spring chicken in that respect it's getting a bit long of tooth age-wise so I replaced it.
Indiana Jones commented, "Its not the years, it's the miles". With ST tires it's just the opposite.
The local Discount Tire fitted me out with one of the new G'year Defender tires. After the dust settled it was a bit north of $200. Pricy? Yes, but after spending more per tire on the 614's I figure it's just background noise.
If we have tire troubles at least I have something I feel won't let me down to fall back on.
I don't remember the brand of my old spare but it was a name that evokes "whaaaa?" and, I'm sure, made the TM's look like superstars.
