19H heater furnace concern

We used our furnace last night for first time, worked well, but noticed the floor of closet above furnace got too hot and am concerned that over time, this wood panel will get cracked or brittle if used a lot. We do have a ceramic heater that works well too but thought we would try furnace out. Shouldn't this furnace have more insulation around it so wood doesn't get so hot??

I suppose you could pull it out and put some reflective foil material on there. Everything that is added to the camper add weight, and cost, so they probably wouldn't do that at the factory.

Been a camper since I was a kid, and that was a long time ago :)
From pup tents with no floors, to tents with floors and flies, to a pop up, to the expandable.
