Don’t be like me!

So this is pretty embarrassing, especially as this is our 7th season in this camper. We are doing a weekend shakedown trip and I decided to take the smoke alarm down to inspect and clean it. This piece of plastic was still covering the battery terminals. I could have sworn I have tested the detector before. Please check all the safety gear in your rigs! Just a friendly reminder from a guy who apparently doesn’t practice what he preaches.

Glad you didn't need it in the past and now that it's working hope you never need it!

My wife usually tests ours once a year!
Draw your own conclusions on this one!

I pull the battery out of ours every fall when I winterize, and leave the cover open, to remind me the battery is removed.

This spring it was totally dead when I installed the new battery.

Our goes off every time we use the oven or cook certain things on the burners if we don't turn on the fan

You can buy one with a Quiet/Cancel button that will give you a few minutes before it restarts. Have one in our mobile home in Florida as we don't have a hood fan the vents outside and I like BACON.

Note to pop-up owners. I left my battery in the alarm, 12 inches of snow and ice on roof and could not get in to shut it off. Clearly heard it for over a month till we got a warm spell. beep.....................beep....................b eep.

Hey, Hazman.....was the "Airhead" candy wrapper included in the pic as a passive, self-deprecating statement?

Here is one with a "silence" button for those smoky meals or the dust in an unused furnace.
