2005 Escapade

Hello! I am looking at purchasing a 2005 31 ft Escapade and was wondering about the good and bad of this Jayco! it has 44k miles for $19k. Thoughts?

Try looking up at the rv sales sites for a comparable.

Also look at NADA which covers some but not all RVs.

Make sure if you are not automotive repair inclined to have it looked at. At 44K all sorts or things can be going out,
Brakes, ball joints, transmission, tires, shocks, on and on.

Last, if you can look at the roof for past repairs and any damage. 12 years in the sun can really cook a roof, vents, AC covers, etc.

Make sure everything works, test drive it to see if you feel comfortable with the unit. If you can, have your spouse try it also.

Or any issues Jayco typically has that I should pay special attention to when inspecting or driving?

Thanks for your help.

We sold our 2008 Coachmen for that and it had a lot more miles. That could be a reasonable price. Do a google search for inspecting used RVs.

You'll want the owner to do what's essentially a "Pre-Delivery Inspection" done by dealers: have him demonstrate *everything*. You need to see everything work. You need to feel the hot water, the cold fridge. You need to feel the cold AC and the hot furnace. Check every outlet. Run the generator.

After all that - you're only getting started.
Then you're under it, on top of it. Opening all the cabinets. Checking seams for missing caulk.

If you're done in under and hour, you probably missed something.
