7500lbs tow upgrade for 2015 Redhawk

has anyone upgraded the receiver hitch on a pre 2016 Redhawk/Greyhawk? My 2015 has a tow rating of 5000lbs but it was increased to 7500lbs in 2016. according to my GCWR 22000lbs and my GVWR 14500lbs i should be able to tow 7500lbs if i upgrade my receiver hitch.

As long as the frame stretch was done to allow 7,500. I'd double check with JAYCO to see what FORD spec was used.

Might be worth two phone calls. One to Jayco and one to ford customer service (not the dealer). Have your Vin number in hand.

Ford should be able to tell you about the drive train. Dodge was great answering all my truck questions. I spoke to them for 30 to 45 minutes.

Jayco should be able to tell you about the stretch, and the load. I would fully expect Jayco will have to get back to you, so have your questions all figured out I advance.

Smile Jayco

I emailed Jayco and they said all I have to do is upgrade the receiver hitch. The chassis is in fact the same as the current models that are able to tow 7500 lbs only difference is they upgraded the receiver hitches in 2016.

Right now we tow our VW Golf wagon with a tow dolly. It works good but i would like to tow an enclosed car trailer in the future with my summer car.

7500lbs tow upgrade for 2015 Redhawk

We had our 2013 31XL upgraded to 10,000 lbs. to handle an enclosed trailer with a 3150 lb. "summer" car and equipment...a bit of over kill but not as much work as expected. Our chassis builder, known for building stronger and safer than minimal, indicated the existing chassis extension was very adequate for towing.

Cool Summer car

My summer car, 2016 Corvette Z51. She needs to go south in the winter too...

Very Nice! Our '78 Malibu is a bit "older", but probably not as heavy...and about as much fun to drive, albeit only in the summer!

Looking for a new hitch

I’m upgrading my 5k hitch as well. Etrailer doesn’t have a match. Anyone able to provide make and model for a 7500k replacement. Preferably direct swap but able to drill holes if necessary. Thanks

For anybody interested, I just took some measurements on my 2023 Greyhawk 31FS. My unit measures 41 9/16" between the frame rails. There are three bolts per side holding on the hitch.

Does anyone know how the transmission in the 2015 year vs the 2016+ year impacted towing?
