Auxiliary Fridge Fan
Anybody using one of those fans that clip onto the fins of the fridge? I'm debating as to whether or not they are worth it. Also, I'm not sure if my newer fridge can accept the 'simple' install (hot line on the fridge light, and a clip on the fins).
Anybody using something like this? Should I be?

Auxiliary Fridge Fan
Many use them. I never have and our fridge works fine for long periods without it.
Others will dis- agree. I look at it as one more thing to maintain. If it does me no good, it's not worth my time or $$.

Well I use the Camco that takes 1 D battery and I believe it makes the fridge more efficient especially if it's full. That Dometic in the link reminds me of a time I saw a freezer using a computer case fan, those are 12v and at first glance seem quite similar...reason I'm mentioning is because used comp case fans are cheap and fairly common.
But however it's done count me as one of the "think it's a real good idea people".

Yes they are especially useful in warm/hot weather to keep frost/ice buildup from forming on the fins in the fridge compartment. Have one similar to the one pictured in the OP's link.

Yes, I'm using one of those and also another muffin fan. These fridges have a real challenge keeping cool in the hot weather. I keep a wireless thermometer in the freezer and fridge and these fans really help. I also turn my fridge off and on every morning to keep the auto defrost from working.
I have a 10cf fridge and the vent outside also has a muffin fan installed by Dometic/Norcold. This fan was inop when I bought the rig. I've also made that funcional. It all helps.

Okay I just grabbed the one on my link. I'm hoping I can do the 'quick' install as I really don't want to splice wires. If that's the case, I won't install it at all.

Another vote for "Doesn't use one."
The fridge handles the load fine. The drinks are cold. The meat stays fresh and the freezer makes 2 batches of ice in 24 hours.
Good enough for me.

FYI, I wired mine in through the defrost drain hose using a very small wire and picking up the 12VDC from the fridge controller. I use the cooling coils and an alligator clip for 12VDC return. My fridge light switches the hot side so I can't use the light. This is the second rig I've done this to.

I have been running the same eBay fan for 2 years and I absolutely think it makes a difference. The cooling coils in the fridge just radiate the cold since there is no moving air in the fridge. With the fan, the air moves over the coils and circulates the cold off of the fins. I can turn the fridge down a setting with the fan on and save a little propane if I'm on gas.
Jopspsy, it's not difficult at all to run a small guage wire down the drain tube and tap into a constant 12v power source on the fridge circuit board.

On our old hybrid, the fridge light was mounted on the side beside the door with an integrated switch. I installed a 3" computer fan and tapped the power off the light before the switch, so the fan was running whenever the fridge was turned on. I mounted the fan on the fins using double-sided tape, and just wedged the wires into the connectors on the light. It really helped in evening out the temperature inside the fridge and eliminated warm spots.

Sorry Jopopsy, I should have given you a heads up before you bought. Like Iragvet05 said though, it's really not that difficult.

No biggie; it wasn't expensive.
