Equalizer leveling questions

Good morning. Last evening when installing my ScanGauge wanted to run the cab A/C. Because the levelers were down I got the "ignition on" light and an audible alarm. At my PDI I was told to have engine on when doing an Equalizer "all retract" but I heard an annoying alarm the entire time of the retraction.

Couple of questions I could not find answers to in the manual:

Do you run the engine while retracting?

How long does it normally take fore the leveling and retraction? I didn't time it but it seemed like a long time.

I know there has been discussion on level before or after extending the slides, but there is a sticker right by the slide buttons that states "level before AND after putting slides out". If I press auto level after jacks are down nothing happens.

Thanks for the input, there is so much new stuff to learn on this Seneca. I am sure glad you are all here during my learning journey.

Greyhawk here, not a Seneca but I'll share because I'd think the idea is the same - nope I usually do NOT run the engine while leveling. About 1/2 the time, I'll plug into Shore Power before doing so, but that's about it.

The jacks suck some power, and I had a weak battery (until a few weeks ago) so that's why I wanted to be plugged in.

As for the timing, that might be different for a Seneca, but if the jacks are all installed to Lippert specs, then we're both supposed to have the pads around 7" from the ground.

Leveling time for us really depends on the slope I'm on; the distance I'm off of level. For an already level pad, where I'm putting them down to give the coach some stability, I'd say 30-45 seconds.

Out front of the house where it's not so level, maybe a minute.

And once when we parked way off level, I guess it took 60-90 seconds.

I haven't timed it, these are impressions from memory.
