Residential Refrigerator

Our JAYCO Pinnacle has a Samsung residential "fridge". The one problem we have is the unit does not operate on propane. Obviously, on drives over 4 hours the temperature in the 5th wheel heats up and the temperature in the fridge increases. We have tried packing both the freezer refrigerator with blocks of ice, which helps but does not seem to be a good solution. This may be a problem without a solution but I thought I'd throw it out and see what other ideas the forum member may come up with.

Why aren't you turning on the inverter? We run 6-7 hrs with no issue.

We have the Samsung too, and have made 2 modifications.
1. We put solar panels on the roof and changed the 2-12V batteries to 4-6V batteries. This was all installed by Jayco prior to delivery. With 100 watts of solar, we have not had any issues, although we are strongly considering adding more solar panels. We live in Southern California and so far this has been adequate, but haven't used it for extended days dry camping.
2. We found that the 1000 watt invertor that was provided by Jayco, was just not adequate. After months of the refrigerator not staying cold consistently, Jayco agreed to give us an 1800 watt invertor which has worked perfectly!

Not sure which floorplan you have, but the switch should be near the control center. It's a black panel marked "Xantrex" has a green button and digital readout.

....dummy? I know your type.. you just used that excuse to see if any member was knowledgeable enough to answer the question, and decided that since there was an answer, you would continue to frequent this forum.

We have the residential refrigerator in our 2016 North Point. The trailer came with 4 12v batteries. Initially, the batteries would last 24 hrs. or so if only the refrigerator was running. Finally bit the bullet and installed 3 160 watt solar panels on the roof. Now we never have the batteries run down. It was an expensive upgrade, but provided plenty of peace of mind.

I run four 6v golf cart batteries, 300W of solar, and a 2000w Xantrex inverter.... And I worry about running the little fridge in the outside kitchen!

Maybe I should try it!!!! My kitchen fridge is propane.....

I have a question about "Xantrex" Inverter. I have a 2017 Pinnacle with a Xantrex XM1000 inverter. When I am on shore power, I have a "yellow" status light, indicating battery. I hear the fan cycling in the inverter while I am on shore power. I currently have 4 -6volt batteries installed.
I think I am running my refrigerator using my inverter while connected to shore power. Am I wrong?

I don't have one but understand that they switch out of service when you are on shore power. Maybe someone will chime in with some real knowledge and confirm that.

One thing I need more knowledge on inverters as related to rv's.

As I understand from reading the manual, the yellow light means that you are on shore power and the inverter is on standby. The inverter fan will run even when the inverter is switched off. Not sure why, but mine does the same thing.

It has an electronic transfer switch that will generate some heat.

My manual and my Inverter display says Green is shore power, yellow is batteries, and red id fault. When I plug my coach in to shore power, the display shows yellow. The dealer has it now looking at it.

Tim
You're absolutely right Tim, if the status light is yellow it's telling you that the inverter is using power from the batteries. When plugged to shore power the status light should be green.
