Tire Monitoring Systems

Looking at purchasing a tire monitoring system. Anyone have experience with the TireMinder TM-77 system. Or any other suggestions.

I went with the EZTIRE system, just for the 4 tires on the 5th wheel. My 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 already has a TPMS.

EEZTIRE TPMS SYSTEM (4 FLOW THROUGH SENSOR) | EEZ RV PRODUCTS

This one works pretty well, but the signal was weak. I would consistently lose signal from the TPMS and it beeps when you lose it. So I added their signal repeater, mounted it right under the front of the trailer and wired it to the battery. Works 100% of the time now.

EEZTIRE TPMS SYSTEM REPEATER (BOOSTER) (1 EA) | EEZ RV PRODUCTS

Now with the repeater it's working perfectly. Pressure and temperature from all 4 tires on the trailer.

I've had it for a few months now, but they say the sensor batteries should last 3-4 years before needing replacement.

Tire Trakker

We have the weak signal problem ( we need to add the Booster and see if it helps )
I have to scroll through 20 screens to see all temps & psi on 10 tires - there has to be a better way
I see some that show both psi & temp on 1 tire ( still would have to scroll through 10 screens )
I love checking my tires from the driver's seat & wouldn't be without one

You might also look at the TST 507. I've used mine for two years and it works perfectly. It gives me pressure and temp per tire as it scrolls thru all tires. I see that somebody is currently selling a 1 year old unit on this forum. Check the current threads...it's $200.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

I have the TST-507 system. Works great. It notified me of two blow outs. I have sensors on the truck and trailer.

I've had a Minder Research TMG400 for 5+ years. I've had to replace one of the sensors that developed a problem and replace the batteries every season (or so). When I bought it the signal booster was optional and I did not initially buy it. After a few outings it became apparent that it was needed. It later became a standard in the kit.

Now to the meat. Get a TPMS, you won't be sorry. There are several that get great reviews and Minder is just one of those. If it died tomorrow I'd probably replace it with another from Minder.

We had 2 blow-outs on our 5th and I was instantly alerted. In both cases I was able to get stopped on the shoulder before the flailing remnants did any damage to the 5th. I credit the TPMS with both saves.

As "Les" points out there's lots of screens to page through but I've assigned that task to my navigator.

My neighbor does not have a monitor and was alerted by a passing motorist that he had a flat but not before quite a bit of damage was done to the wheel well. Take a survey in your next CG, I'm surprised at how many rigs I see with wheel well damage.

That's why I like the EEZTIRE. It simply scrolls through the 4 tires I've set up for my 325. It cycles, showing me pressure and temp of each one. Super easy to glance at and there are alarm thresholds for both pressure and temp. I never need to touch it, just glance out of the corner of my eye.

I am on my 2nd season with the TireMinder A1A. Wouldn't be without them.
I put the booster on the bottom of the A-Frame off to the side of the battery box. Never had any dropped signals.
Booster comes with the A1A

TST-507 pass through. No repeater and reaches my rear axle.

Whatever you decide I would suggest one with a temp sensor. Alerted me of a stuck brake as one tire was running 10-15 degrees above the others. Just my 2 cents.

I've had the Tireminder Smart TMS for since it came out a couple of years ago. It comes with a relay which is mounted in a front compartment of my 5th wheel. Then there is a small box that goes somewhere in the TV - mine is in the center console.
The readout is via your smart phone, which means you don't have yet another device stuck on your dash.
My iPhone already stays on the dash - usually with Waze up for navigation. The TMS just runs in the background. If there is a tire pressure problem, the box in the console has an audible alarm and flashing light (even if the iPhone isn't on.) Then the iPhone app comes on screen to show which tire has a problem.
If you leave the app on screen (instead of behind Waze, google maps, etc.) then you can have it rotate through the tires.
It does show temp. and pressure.
I haven't changed batteries in the sensors in 2 years - it's VERY frugal with battery life shutting off the sensors if they aren't moving.
And I've never had a signal problem.

only one I have experience with is the TST systems. They are great and needs no repeater. They have one if needed.

There are many out here that are likely making a lot of rv'ers feel safer. I would not leave home without it.

I have the TST 507SG and it is excellent! Highly recommend it.
Make sure that you have the STST valve stems.....

Have Tireminder Smart TMS as well. Good signal strength and comes with range extender. Also works with my phone so no extra monitor on dash.

I didn't catch it anywhere else in the thread, so sorry if I missed it, but check with the manufacture of the TPMS you go with to see if you need metal valve stems. Some of the sensor unit transmitters are very heavy (particularly the flow-through style).

If you happen to have a 2017 Eagle HT with the Goodyear tire/rims combo, good luck finding metal stems that fit. I've not had much luck in my efforts.

Erren, I just found this thread as well as your original.

We have a 2018 Eagle HT 28.5rsts on order with 16-inch rims with Goodyear tires and want to put a Dill monitoring system on it. I had a Dill unit on the last trailer and liked the fact that the sensor is inside the tire and has a metal stem. From what I have been reading the washer on the outside of the rim 'may' fit inside the recessed area or 'may not.' It sounds like it is fine if the washer is not in the reset.

I hope to get this all figured out before I order my new Dill system. Still not sure why people want an exterior mounted TPMS when one can be installed the rim where it can't get damaged and where wheel temps are more accurate.

For those that have had the TST of more than a years or so.... I also have and am satisfied with the performance of the TST, but I noted when I had the trailer out this past weekend, that a couple of the tires weren't sending signals. How often do you need to change the batteries on the senders? I installed my senders, about this time last year, and left them on throughout the year. Should I take them off in the off-season to preserve battery life?

If they are user replaceable battery sensors figure on changing them annually. Better to do them all at one time , like smoke detectors batteries.

Mine is the rv510 and they last about 5 years. I have to send them back to TST to be refurbished.

I prefer that but others do not. Either way ,I want them working and dependable.

I purchased a TireMinder TM55 system last month for under $200, including four sensors and a booster. The sensors weigh almost nothing and the system worked great on our first trip with it last week.
