Fresh water check valve?

Every time I hook up city water, the connection leaks like crazy, I think over time I've messed up the hose threads on the check valve.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything similar in a store? Anyone point me to the right product? Preferably something that is a brass fitting instead of plastic?

I believe it's 1/2" MPT to GHT.

I can't figure out how to post a photo, but it's at this link:

Looking closer at the one I have, I see I can take the GHT ring off of it. Maybe I could just 3D print a new threaded ring...

Have you tried replacing the rubber washer in the fitting? Usually that is the problem

Are you securing the shore water hose connection(s) with teflon tape?

Consider installing a brass quick connect with teflon tape to the trailer city water and black tank flush connections to make them quick to connect/disconnect and leak-free everytime. Also consider a 45 or 90 degree brass elbow on the trailer water connections to remove the horizontal stress off those connections.

my bad, you did say garden hose, my mind went to inside compartment PEX tubing...

This is what I am considering getting for our rig for the hose connection.

IMO no need for a check valve at the trailer connection, albeit you can buy them with an integral check valve. What I suggest are these:

Hose Elbow Connector 45 Degree (also in 90 degree): https://www.amazon.com/PLG-Garden-Co...382244100&th=1

Quick connect fittings with or without integral check valve (I purchased mine from ACE): https://www.amazon.com/2Sets-Garden-...260435217&th=1

Here's another current thread about the same fitting you have.

Do a google search for city water supply for rvs. I have never seen one without a built in check valve.
