Golf cart batteries

Will the SAMs /Costco golf cart batteries fit in the battery tray? The model we are looking at is the 28BHBE but I am pretty sure the dimensions of battery box should be roughly the same for all Jayco Travel trailers. Also do you guys who use 2 6 volt batteries use a custom battery box or just run a jumper between 2 6 volt boxes? Looking for a clean set up without any modifications if possible.

We used a battery box made by Interstate designed for 2 6v batteries. It cost about 50 bucks. You can see a slide show on You Tube. Just search "w7edm" and it will be on my channel.

Welcome to the forum!!! I am not sure as to how the battery(s) tray is setup on your model. The EAGLE 284BHS has 2 battery trays on the tongue. One raised one and one lowered one. The top front tray only fit a size 24 battery but the lower rear one fit either a 24 or 27 battery. I modified the top front tray to accept the battery box of a size 27 battery. I know some of the trailers have a long tray under the front of the TT.

If your tanks are at the front of the tongue, you may have enough room to make your own tray out of angle iron and bolt it or weld it to the frame behind the tanks.

I would call the dealer and ask him to verify where the battery tray is. Here is a picture of my conversion.

We have a 281BHS and fit two 6volt battery boxes side by side in the tray. No modifications required other than cutting a couple slots in the battery box lid for cables.
Our dual 20lb tanks are mounted in front of the batteries.

You can use these same dimensions for the TROJAN T105 which is pretty much the same as the GC2 sold by COSTCO..

The Width and Depth is roughly the Same for the GP24 but the HEIGHT is much taller.

I run 2 6 volts in separate boxes with a jumper.. Makes it easier to lift (one at a time keeping batteries in boxes)when taking the batteries off when trailer isn't being used so I can keep them charged.

I installed the Costco batteries, and they were taller than the standard battery box. I ordered the CG2 battery box which was the same size box with a 2 inch ring added to it. I looked for just the add on ring and could not find it separately.
Mine fit on my 29BHS side by side. Used same cables, just took the one that was for the parallel 12 to the series 6.

Get the oversized boxes for 6V cart batteries at WallyWorld for about $12 each.
