Memory Foam Mattresses
Has anyone changed their original mattress to a memory foam type for their RV?
We just changed our California King Size at home with a 14" memory foam and really like it so far. I have a 32BHDS and was wondering if a reg Queen Size 80x60x12" will fit. I will measure the current mattress as it is supposed to a be a reg Queen.

I changed mine right away in my 2016 38FDDS.. I didn't sleep on the included Denver mattress at all. I laid down on it for a minute and knew it wasn't going to work. I bought a brentwood home full size queen (80x60x11) for $425 directly from brentwoodhome.com - 120 night trial, so you can return it if you don't like it. It also has a 25yr warranty. Free shipping (both ways)
We had a brentwood in my old camper(short queen)and loved it. Infact, I just got one for home last week. Most of the newer Jay flights use regular 80x60 standard queen, unless you order the king option.

My old camper came with a decent mattress. Our current one didn't. I tried it for one night and immediately changed it out with a foam mattress we got from Amazon... Perfect Cloud or something like that... sleeps nice.

Foam Mattress
Thanks, Jloco. I measured and I need a full size. My current mattress is 6 to 7 inches thick. If I go with a 12" I'm adding almost double the thickness and that is a lot of height. If you don't mind, will you give me the height of yours? My concern is the thinner you get in height how that might effect the comfort level.

Foam Mattress
Hey, Jloco, I just reviewed your post and picked up the height. Could have had a V-8!!!! Thanks again for your reply.

I put a 3 inch gel memory foam topper ( $99.00 sale usually $139 at Costco) on top of the rock hard mattress that came with the TT & turned it into the best sleeping experience ever. Unreal how it changed it.

Similar to what I did. I got my 4" memory foam topper from WM, about the same price.
One night on the OEM mattress and I was done with it. Something had to be done, and a topper was our most cost-effective solution after we had just spent all our money on the trailer! Made a surprising amount of difference, and sleeps almost as good as our mattress at home (sometimes better).
And now, after 3 years of use, I'm ready to dump the original mattress altogether and get a 9" or 10" foam mattress replacement from Amazon. I'll probably keep the topper on it too.

I bought my first Brentwood on Amazon, but I got my second one just last week directly from Brentwood. They were offering 10% off, which made it cheaper than Amazon. Plus they offered free shipping BOTH ways should I decide in the next 120 days to return it, which I doubt will happen since I really like the one in my Jay Flight.

Did the same and it was amazing difference. I would have liked to replace completely however with a Murphy Bed tough enough to keep the topper in place once bed is in travel position.

It's interesting to us that you find the mattress topper in place with your Murphy bed in travel position. We change the sheets/blanket on ours before we leave the campground, and store it that way, ready to go, and have had almost no trouble. Once one of the pillows slid down behind/under the bed, and that would've been funny if it hadn't been so late at night after a long day. But we are thinking about either a topper or a replacement mattress, so we're looking for recommendations. Apparently need to check Costco!

A word of caution. If you go with a thicker mattress and have under bed storage, be careful when lifting as their will be less clearance between mattress and wall and you could pop the hinge.

This is what I intend on doing with my White Hawk. I've owned and slept on nothing but memory foam for the past 15 years. I find sleeping on anything else damn near impossible. Obviously I'll be ditching that hard-as-a-rock mattress that comes with my unit. What a joke! Toppers are a waste in my opinion as well. I've never had an actual mattress rip but I have had toppers rip in multiple spots. I normally tell people to save that $99-150 dollars for a topper and invest in a decent 13-15 inch thick memory foam mattress for $400+. The last mattress I purchased off Amazon was also a brenthome. Great brand with 25 year warranty, which is outstanding.
Oh yeah Im a Prime user so free shippng

Ours is a Murphy bed, and still has the straps to keep everything in place when it's in the upright position. I can lengthen the straps to accommodate a thicker mattress, just want to be sure it's not going to be too thick for the space - or the sheets! We figure we can use the old mattress on the sleeper couch, 'cause even though it's kinda lumpy, it'll be better than the sleeper mattress or than putting a king-size topper on a queen-sized sleeper. ;-)
