Slide Out Brace

Hello,

I have a brace to lock down my slide out when traveling.

This thing is a pain to use as it binds itself up often when I am trying to put in place.

Is it really required?

I recently pulled my camper home approx. 2 hours without it and the slide didn't seem to move.

Wondering what you folks think.

Some use them, many don't. I always have since the slide out switches specifically say to.

After over 8,000 miles last year my slide never moved and I do not have a brace.

No braces and no movement in three years and well over 10k miles.

The 29BHS is like my 28 BHS and has a small sofa slide. All the slide mechanism and support is at the bottom under the sofa. The top is unsupported. If you take a hard turn the top may move out an inch or two. You can actually push it out by hand without much effort. I did not use my slide lock at first either and my slide became out of adjustment, would not retract all the way at the back top corner. I readjusted it and now use the slide lock when traveling. I recommend using the slide lock, at least on your particular model.

3 different travel trailers w/ slides over the years never used a brace not a problem so far

If the slide manufacture recommends using a (or supplies)"transit bar", IMO it should always be used because the particular slide mechanism design in question may move without it.
