Just saw a CW ad with 14 x 14 inch vent covers for $9, about 2.50 more if you aren't a PC member. Maybe it's worth it not to fuss with homemade stuff, although I'm no CW fan and don't like paying for that so-called 10% discount.

We went to the hardware store and bought some roll reflective insulation.
Cut to fit and velcro to the windows.

It comes in different widths.

darken windows

I bought a roll of black weed barrier material for landscaping. I cut a piece that would fit each window. When I camp, whichever window has annoying light, I use push pins, and affix black weed barrier cloth by pinning to the valence, and it hangs in front of the window. Then as the day moves on, I un-pin and remove. Doesn't blacken the light, but diffuses it.
