I bought a trailer with a toilet and a shower for a reason, so that we don't have to use the campground facilities. We never use anything but the trailer for all washroom activities.

Interesting, we have never had an issue. I may do a test on the next campout and use a paint stick to block the gate from closing and see what happens.

The paint stick would allow the water to go down the toilet completely I would think...the paper acted like a plug letting the bowl fill up...just wanted to give a heads up so it wouldn't happen to anyone else...

Over the years we have had a few issues with water hookups. Most recent one was water spraying at the camper city water connection with the spray hitting the slideout seal on the bed room, that resulted in wet carpet by morning. What we do since then is shut off city water when we leave the camper and before we go to bed. Use the pump at night and shut it off after each use. Simple thing to do.

So I stuck the stick down the toilet to keep the gate valve from closing this past weekend when I released the foot valve. The water on my toilet stopped running, even with the gate valve stuck open.

A few months ago I noticed that the toilet bowl mysteriously filled with water a couple of times. Luckily I caught it before it overflowed on the floor. Ended up having to pull the toilet out and replacing the faulty toilet flush valve (the one that turns water flow on/off). All has been well since then.
