top won't retract on '95 Eagle 10 UD

Here's the problem:

When I crank to lift, left side reached up position a bit before the right side.

Trying to crank it down, and am running into problems. At first, rears retracted, but 2 front telescoping braces locked in place.

I looked at the cables/pulleys, and they are attached.

What do you think might be the problem?

I put pressure above the front braces, but they won't budge.

Maybe the cables need readjusting?

Try cranking it all the way up the go down again... you might need to do this several times... watch for binding .. and of course make sure that nothing was left inside that cold be blocking it....

I adjusted the tension via a pulley located at the back of the camper (underneath), bolted to the outter most frame rail. The cable was a little loose, and a few cranks of the adjusting nut snugged the cable up a bit which made cranking up/down a bit easier. Granted, I wasn't having any problems, but it may help your issue. Make sure also that the cable tracks are lubed- you should see two grease zerks on the cable 'tubes' (running underneath the trailer frame)- one at each end of the tubes.

I'm still trying to find a solution.

I'll look under the trailer tomorrow for that pulley and zerk fittings on tubes.

Darn thing is since I can't retract it, I can't tow it to a repairman.

Will keep you posted. Any suggestions appreciated.
