who went from hybrid to 5er?
I was wondering who went from a hybrid to a 5er? What hybrid did you come from? Do you miss the hybrid? Are you glad you switch? Pros and cons
I have a x23b which I love. I was thinking maybe getting into a bunk house model which I want to keep a short overall length though. I still want to squeeze into smaller spots.i would also maybe tow a boat behind as well. Don't know if I would make the switch because I do love x23b.

I'm not sure folks would agree but I switched from a 24' HiLo to a 5vr. In case you don't know it - the HiLo has a hard top that raises/lowers over a hard base. We loved it but it was just too narrow with all the grandkids and (2) large dogs.
We really enjoy the openness of our new trailer.

We did. Went from a X23J to a fifth wheel. I loved my hybrid and miss it, but the switch is better for us as I tow my boat behind my 5er and because we do a lot of off season camping so hard sides became desirable. Also I got sick of having to pack the truck every trip with camping gear with the hybrid. There wasn't much storage in it. Now with the fifth wheel we literally leave everything in it except food. Just hook and go. No regrets except for the occasional trip to remote rustic campsites when the weather is beautiful.

Went from a 19' Hybrid, to a TT to a 5th. The hybrid was nice because it's so much smaller and easier to maneuver, but I'd never give up my 5th, because of the room and comfort.

Yup, X23B to 351 RLTS. 4400# to 12700#. 23' to 39'.
We love the extra space but I miss the easy towing little hybrid. It was a simple trailer with few things to go wrong but we wanted something a little more substantial that would be more comfortable for longer stays. We've owned the 5th for a year now and after several outings I'm starting to get the hang of maneuvering the 5th. It seems odd to me that our setup/breakdown times aren't significantly different.
Do we miss the 23B? Yes. Would we go back? Nope!
Oh yeah, hadda get a new truck too.

hybrids may be small but i will take backing up my fifth wheel anyday over a hybrid, the longer the trailer the easier to back up

bunkhouse 5er's are usually not short...they take up a good bit of room back there

We did! 2007 Pilgrim International Cirrus 210 CE to a 2015 Jayco Eagle 34.5BHTS. Best decision we've made! Loved the hybrid, but love the fifth wheel that much more!

Thanks for the input guys. Keep them coming. I would like to also know how much of the trailer length you can subtract from the overall length being it over hangs the truck. Right now I got my eye on jayco shortest Bunk House 5er. Can't wait to check these out at the rv show.

Sorry I wasn't to clear. I was wondering about overall length that included the tow vehicle. So let's say my truck is 20' long and I have a 5er that is 30' long. So I know the total overall length of tv and 5er wouldn't be 50' being that part of the trailer is overtop the bed of the truck. Does it over hang by 3' or so? Then my overall length of tv and 5er would be 47' if I were to subtract that 3'. Hopefully that makes a little more sense.

Approx. 4 feet with a "short" bed. Measure from the center of your rear axle to where the ball sits for a bumper tow. That'll give you a rough idea.

I don't think there will be a correct (precise) answer here due to differences between trailers and their TVs.
With my previous bumper mount camper I used a WDH - which displaced the ball several inches back. However now, using a bed mounted hitch, the mounting point has moved forward - perhaps the 4 feet previously mentioned.
But the leading edge of my current 5th sits several feet (?) ahead of the mounting point.

We did, but only because we finally got into the seasonal campground of our dreams. Our little hybrid was getting very dirty leaving it on site and I didn't want to wreck it. We sold it to a great young couple and bought an older used 5th wheel. We had a ton of fun with our hybrid over the years but our days of travelling to camp are over. We are set on our seasonal site as long as the Lord is willing.

The outside length of my 36 FW is about 40'. When I compared how far the rear bumper of my FW was behind my TV to my 33' TT it's about the same. The FW tows better and is quicker to set up, and is roomier and nicer inside. Of course it was more expensive. Beside the cost of Truck don't forget to add the cost of a Fifth-wheel Hitch.
