We seldom stopped in rest areas, Walmart's, Cracker Barrels, etc. when we had the travel trailer. Primarily for security reasons... we didn't like to have to get out of the TV and go to the TT in the dark, in an unfamiliar area. Now, with the motorhome, it's not an issue. If we can't get into a campground, we are comfortable staying in a parking lot.

We DO follow the common sense rules about that: Letting the manager know that we're there, park under a light with the door facing the establishment, always purchasing something there, etc. As someone else has mentioned, Cracker Barrel's are great for that. Having said that, there is a comfort level with WalMart, as they are open 24/7, and have a LOT of security cameras.

A parking lot is a last resort for us if we can't get into a campground.

Does anyone know if Camping World allows overnight parking for RV's?

Have fun and be safe!

NC and SC do not allow overnighting in their interstate rest areas. We normally do a quick overnight at Walmart or a Lowes home improvement center where they often leave the WiFi on all night.

We have stayed in many a walmart supercenters while we are traveling. Have always felt safe there. Make sure you check in with the customer service desk. They usually request that you park in a certain area. In bad weather, it is also a great place to get some walking in after a day on the road.
