Size of Fort Wilderness

Well I made the reservation last March and got into Loop 1400 as so many have suggested and after battling the heavy wind and rain I was so happy to get here. 1st concern was making the turn to get into the park. They have you making a 160 degree bend and its only 200 feet wide. Then driving to our loop it was tight but doable if you let everyone going the other way clear the intersections. Then backing into the site! Holy crap This is by far the tightest campground I have ever been in. Granted not everyone has a 43 foot long RV but all the neighbors have the same story and two different people complimented my backing ability after I was done.

Just haven't seen any warnings and wanting to let future campers know.

Yeah, I was surprised how tight it was. I have the rear cargo rack on my TT so probably around 40 feet. At least they were slightly angled. I was glad I was not moving again for a week !

You must have come in the back way. If you follow DISNEY's directions off of WORLD DRIVE to VISTA it's a standard 90 degree turn. Did you follow a GPS?

As to loops and sites, the CG was built in 1971 when units were "much" smaller. Do to many wetland regulations they are very limited in what they can do to expand.

There is also an App, FT WILDERNESS SITES that gives you pad sizes and backing difficulty. Info was taken directly from the FORT front desk.

Grumpy,
I’m not able to locate the app you reference. Is this an IOS app?

The app is for Android for sure. I have it and it is "somewhat" accurate. The app hasn't been updated in a long time so it can be misleading. We camped there last October 2016 with a 31' FW and were in the 1900 loop which is a Full Hook Up site. Since the roads are narrow, I did have some trouble backing in. If my "across" the street neighbor had not been there to move his truck, it would have been a real challenge.

Like any other campground, some sites are difficult to get into. It is my understanding that the Fort folks will allow you to change sites if your not able to maneuver in. Obviously, there would have to be other sites available. Here's a pic of our site:

I have it on my IPhone, but it's not compatible with IOS 11. The developer needs to update it for it to work...

Nothing to update, the info is what DISNEY gives the front desk staff. Only exception is the 2100 loop.

On Android, I think the one being referenced is "Fort Wilderness Sites" by Fort Friends, LLC

Sure there is Grumpy,
The app (that I have) doesn't include pictures of every site.

Because they never found them empty and it was a voluntary effort.
