Tier 2 inverter generators (<3200 watts)
I am not saying any of these are bad, they just have not achieved the "gold standard" of the Honda inverter generators ! IMHO, I have always felt that the Honda generators were a bit over priced (although I guess you can buy them on sale occasionally) and the EU2000i is a bit under powered, especially for running and A/C.
So I have a little poll for you to take. Remember, this is for inverter generators only and under 3200 watts.

I have used a Yamaha 3000 and I just purchased a Honda 3000 from http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...a-holiday-sale
Honda has a $150 off deal going on until 12/30.

I will be purchasing two Yamaha EF2000iS. 55dB, fuel shut off so they can be run dry, and can be run in parallel for running the A\C, when necessary.
Portable and easy to store and carry. I am not getting any younger. This configuration also gives me some redundancy, in case one unit gives me problems. Efficiency is also improved since one large generator does not have to run when demand is low. Wear should also be reduced with the majority of the run time shared across the two.

I bought a Champion 73536i 2000w inverter generator. Although we don't boondock, it allows me to run all my tools when doing mods to the camper while in storage among other things. It weighs 47lbs and @ 57 decibels, it's as quiet as a Honda [and all the same features] for half the price. I've only had it for a year so I really can't speak of it's reliability but its never let me down. If we did decide to boondock, I'd just buy another and use them in tandem. I run it dry after use as well.

I have a Yamaha 2400. Bought it to charge batteries and provide power when not with hookups. For me, it was a selection based on enough power, quiet, longevity, and size/weight. It runs my 13k air conditioning (which has been a godsend a couple times) is light enough for me to easily move it around and I find it to be reasonably quiet. No one has ever asked me to turn it off yet.

Tier 2? What is Tier 2? What is the significance? I have never heard that term used with portable generators.
What little I found seems to indicate it is related to interconnecting to commercial utilities. Not really an issue for RV use.
If I missed something I would like to be educated on what Tier 2 has to do with RV's and inverter generators.

I think that refers to 2nd choice under a Honda. Is that correct?
